About Z-Cards: Z-Cards come in two forms: Z-Leaders, and Z-Battle Cards. These special cards don’t go in your deck. You can play them when you want to, without having to worry about the luck of the draw. This means more strategic depth as you have more cards at your disposal!
Up to 7 Z-Cards Can be Used: You start each game with your Z-Cards in your Z-Deck, which is separate from your normal deck. Z-Decks can include between 0 to 7 cards, but can only contain 4 copies of a card with the same card number. You can check the contents of your Z-Deck at any time.
Z-Energy: A new resource, which goes in the new Z-Energy Area! Build it up, then spend it on Z-Cards!
How to Use Z-Energy: Every battle, you have a chance to generate 1 Z-Energy. Combo aggressively to skillfully generate Z-Energy! At the end of a battle, you can place 1 card from your Combo Area in your Z-Energy. Cards are placed face up in your Z-Energy Area. When paying Z-Energy costs, you can use any cards you like from your Z-Energy Area.
Using Z-Leaders: Z-Leaders can be placed in your Leader Area by using [Z-Awaken]. While placed in your Leader Area, Z-Leaders are treated the same as any other Leader, and—with the exception of anything that refers specifically to “Z-Leaders”—follow the same rules as and are affected by card text that refers to normal Leaders. When a Z-Leader leaves your Leader Area, the topmost Z-Leader card is removed from the game, with all other cards remaining in your Leader Area.
New Keyword Skill – [Z-Awaken]: This skill is an [Activate : Main/Battle] keyword skill. You can announce the activation of [Z-Awaken] by choosing 1 of the specified Leader Cards―if its back side is face up and it’s not a Z-Card―and paying the specified amount of Z-Energy and skill cost. You can only announce and activate [Z-Awaken] once per turn. [Z-Awaken] is a skill that places the card that activated this skill on top of the chosen Leader Card.
Using Z-Battle Cards: During their Main Phase, the current turn player can play Z-Battle Cards from their Z-Deck Area to their Battle Area. While placed in your Battle Area, Z-Battle Cards are treated the same as any other Battle Card, and—with the exception of anything that refers specifically to “Z-Battle Cards”—follow the same rules as and are affected by card text that refers to normal Battle Cards. When a Z-Battle Card leaves your Battle Area, the topmost Z-Battle Card is removed from the game, with all other cards placed in their owners’ Drops.
